School Pics!

I finally got around to scanning school pictures. I have to say I don't love paying for school pictures, cause they are never my favorite, but we still do. I don't think I ever did Gabe's kindergarten one, so I scanned that while I was at it.
We did her hair so cute this day, and I was not a happy camper about how they tucked it and let it fly away, but Gabe tries SOOO hard to look her best and we didn't want to tell her we didn't love her hair, so we made do cause it's still cute.
Ollie's preschool does pictures! Which I love! He didn't love it at all, but I thought it was cute she does this. I couldn't get my CD to work though, so it took me a bit to just finally scan them. So here they are. Better late than never.

Playing with Cousins!

Laurel and Travis stopped by for a quick overnight pass-through visit on their way to Vegas. It was so nice to see them and visit. Milo LOVED playing with Levi. Ollie would have more if he could have moved around more. Gabe and Ollie loved Carson and just kept telling me how cute they thought he was. Thanks for the visit guys!

TEN YEARS!!!

Well we made it. Ten years always seemed like such a cool thing when being married a few years! I still find it so awesome, I just can't believe it's been ten years! We had all these plans. I had worked it out. Wednesday we would grab a quick bite, and spend the night together at the temple. After I had a romantic evening planned, and we'd continue our tradition of watching our wedding video. Friday I worked out a babysitter for us to go to a nice dinner out, and a movie to watch the Hobbit 3. For our trip we are going to Hobbiton where the shire scene was filmed so we wanted to see all the Hobbit shows before we left and we have watched all the Lord of the Rings.

WELLLLL all these plans were before our son broke his leg. We were not about to leave him with babysitters. He was miserable and in pain, and didn't want to move, and the first week was hard! He couldn't do a lot for himself and asking someone to watch that it hard. I would have been worried about him the whole time and not able to enjoy myself. We just didn't want to leave him, Adam felt the same. SOOO we planned to get some take out and have a evening in. It still didn't quite turn out as expected, cause I got sick, but we made do. Adam still brought me flowers and sushi, and I made him some chocolate covered strawberries for him to eat. We have a bet going that he won't drink Maoutnin Dew until our trip, and I can't eat sweets. So I didn't have any. EVEN though I really wanted some. :)

We figure we can't complain, we have a trip to New Zealand planned. So even though the celebrating wasn't what we thought, we still watched our show and cuddled and reminisced, and loved the time we spent together. We told each other we'd just go out later in the month but that didn't work either. We did get our take out, and separate temple trips after our babysitter cancelled, but that's fine.

Here's to the best 10 years of my life! Happy big 1-0 bebe! Love you!
Here's some of our ten year stats (purely for our enjoyment so don't feel obligated to read)
In ten years we've:
*Live in 5 cities and 2 states
*Been in 8 different wards
*We've moved 9 times renting 1 basement apartment, 2 decent apartments, rented two houses, Rented one hole-in-the-wall "apartment" with pipe issues and cockroaches, and one stupid duplex covered in mold. We've owned 1 house together!
*We've had 10 jobs among us
*We've educated ourselves at 3 different schools so far
*We have 3 of the most beautiful children ever
*We've owned 1 dog (RIP GRETA GIRL)-who Gabe still thinks is buried in the St G cemetery, and one office fish-RIP Fishy-Ishy wherever you were flushed to.
*We've honeymooned to Costa Rica, and plan to spend our 10 year anniversary trip to New Zealand!
*We've owned 5 different cars
*We've survived moments of stress: Cars issues, health concerns, multiple parenting mistakes (locking kids in cars, or forgetting our kids at school-more than once for example), buying a house, job stress, living off credit cards cause we had no money, Late nights with sick kids, seizures/stitches/broken bones/viruses/diseases, we've survived potty training Gabe, Getting stubborn Ollie to see our side in any issue, and getting past Milo's first year of poor health.
*We've had the best moments: On our wedding day, the birth of our wonderful kids, accomplishing goals, callings in our church, paying off that credit card debt, buying a house fits into both good and bad, the blessing of jobs we truly enjoy and that we felt inspired to take, any vacation that we ventured out of Utah wink emoticon and watching our kids milestones!
Love this man of mine who is patient, kind, and has put up with a lot from me in ten years and I know loves me to put up with eternity.

Normally my Wife beats me to the announcements but she is a little busy today so I get the chance to wish her the Best 10 Year Anniversary!! She is the most wonderful wife and mother everyone would dream to have. She is selfless, beautiful, kind, patient, and pretty freakin HOT too. It's been the best 10 years of my life and just getting better. Thanks for everything u do for me and our family. Here's to 100 more years!!

Ollie Can't Catch the Right Kind of Break

I kinda had to grin while typing this post and labeling it "Life with Ollie", cause really this is what life is like with Ollie for us. There's always something some year, a seizure, stitches, stitches on the face again, and now for year 4 a broken bone. It doesn't happen cause he's this wild crazy boy. It happens, cause he's just got poor luck. The poor kid can't catch a break. Well I would take stitches over a broken bone any day, but I guess now we know how things go with casts and such.

On Sunday the 11th after church I decided I would take a nap with Milo. I LOVE me a nice Sunday nap, Adam doesn't love to take naps cause he feels more tired afterwards so it works out. The kids asked him to go jump on the tramp, and being a fun awesome dad he obliged. While bouncing the kids, Ollie came down and landed in a weird way that hyperextended his knee backwards. Because of the tight tendons that connect the top of your Tibia (big bone in the lower part of your leg) to your knee it pulled the top of his bone hard enough to break it. I guess it's common enough that orthopedics call it the Tampoline fracture. Common enough that his cousin has done the exact same thing, on a tramp, breaking the exact same bone in the same place.

Adam woke me up and told me how he hyperextended it. We wondered if it was broken or sprained or just twisted weird. It wasn't swelling a lot, which I guess is more common with a break, where a sprain swells. ANWAY he kinda whimpered for a minute off and on. But if he didn't move it he was fine. We told him he was being super tuff about it, and he told us, "I'm probably not that tuff." Cute boy. Daddy gave him a blessing before bed that he could sleep well, and with some meds he did great in the night on our floor. Come Monday morning we knew we had to take him in. SOOO even though we went early to the instacare, we were there for like three hours. Luckily the boys were entertained on phones. We were grateful for the doctor we got, cause he insisted that the orthopedic office see us that day even though they were slammed, cause of the way his bone had shifted. It wasn't a huge shift, but it wasn't supposed to do that. They told us they'd squeeze us in, but it'd probably be a long wait just like we had waited there.

So at 3:00 having grabbed Gabe from school a little early we headed to their office. I have never been treated so well at a doctor's office before! I was so impressed at their staff. We were told we'd have a huge wait, and they helped us as soon as we were there. I think cause he was a kid, which they see, but most of their patients tend to be older people with broken hips and such. They told us that he might need surgery that night, but they had to wait for Dr Butterfield to determine that who was in a surgery but almost done.

So we waited about an hour, Adam taking the other two to run errands and we hung out. The staff constantly checked on us. It was nice. Dr Butterfield told us that because it had shifted he could go do surgery and put some bolts in it, but if it were his kid there is no way he would let anyone do that. He said he thinks it'll heal on it's own. He was confident about it, which is nice cause we have no idea and he's the specialist. He wants to use surgery as a last resort. So this year at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and a year from now he has to get X-rays to make sure it's healing ok. If it isn't in a year, they'll rebreak it and do surgery. So here's to praying and crossed fingers all will be well. Doing this again with a surgery in a year isn't really something we look forward to.

We are SUPER bummed for him, but he has been AMAZING! We thought he would back pedal in being independent and want everything done for him, but he's been completely opposite! He is out to prove he can do it all. Crazy boy. We had just got him talked into playing soccer this spring. :( Guess we'll try in the fall.

The front view of his bone-His Proximal Tibial Fracture
In this side picture you can see how the top of his bone has shifter away from the rest of it. It's not as extreme as it could be obviously, but enough to consider surgery.
After our first visit with a well deserved push pop Gabe and Milo brought him from the store.
Our friends and neighbors brought Ollie this gift bag full of fun goodies and entertainment. So nice! He was so happy. It included a lot of ninja turtle stuff so he was excited as you could imagine. His His preschool made him a huge get well card, and another day made him some little notes. So cute! The Wads brought him this magnet activity book he could sit and do. He's been pretty spoiled. He was super melancholy and lethargic the first few 3-4 days and it was rough. Harder than I thought just cheering him up. He didn't want to play or eat, just lay and not move. So when people went out of their way to make him happy we were so grateful.

We made him his favorite cookies and foods, and got him take out from his favorite place. We got him some new shows, but still sitting around is HARD for a little boy! We got library books and movies cause for the first week he couldn't sit for long periods of time. It hurt him too bad.

Once he got his hard cast on, it was such a huge difference! He wanted red of course, it's his favorite. He didn't even care to look he just said before we got there, "I just want red Mom. I just want red."
He was so very proud of his cast, and we even got his Doc "Dr B" to sign it first. We got home and he gave me a million requests of everything he wanted on it. He told Gabe he wanted her to draw a hearts and a minion, I got the task of ninjago characters and ninja turtles. :/ cute boy.

This is Zane, he's is Ollie's favorite ninjago  lego character.
Rafael the best I could. He wanted all four turtles and all four ninjas, I kinda talked him out of that for now. It's pretty full now of signatures and doodles. I'll take a pic before he gets it off.
Our neighbors have let us borrow board games and puzzles and other stuff to play with.
He now drags himself all over the house, which the doc said is ok. He's determined to be independent most days. He started trying to walk on it, and I shut him down on that one. That, he isn't supposed to do. He doesn't love that. We thought about getting crutches, but the doc said at home he could just drag it around, and he's not very coordinated right now. When we go out he rides in a cart or a stroller. At preschool and church he drags himself around and does the stroller so it works for us.
Having a broken leg happily gives him an excuse for the HUGE carts at stores.
We broke down and got a wii. It helped keep him busy and gave him some movement if he's just gonna be sitting. We are all surviving and working through it. We had him sleeping downstairs for a bit, but he's upstairs again. They said he'd have it four weeks, which they originally told us six, so four is good. So hopefully at his appointment it looks good enough to take off.

Around the House in January

So I guess technically this is still in December. Our last Sunday at one o'clock where we're just waiting around for church to start.
Gabe falls off her bed here and there and a lot of the time she's too lazy to get back up. She claims the floor is really comfy, we think it's funny.
I think my boys look somewhat similar in this picture, maybe cause they are pulling the same face.
Adam has gotten more mountain biking in this month, and in all sorts of conditions, mud included.
Ollie and Daddy both got driving range tokens for buckets of balls in their stockings. Which is such a nice thing to go and do together.
Out to eat after some golfing
They love to burry themselves in their "house".
Just another Wednesday with the Wads
Our neighbor let us use his unloader for free so we wouldn't have to rent one. SOOO nice. So we leveled out our yard some more, moved the big bushes and rocks in the middle of the yard to the edges where we'll use them, and took out some of the cement. I never took a pic of the end result. We'd still like to bring in some more dirt. Not sure when we'll get around to the next step, but it's nice to have that done. Now Adam and our neighbor are talking about sharing the price of cement so we can put in a pad for our shed and move it, and then we'll look into redoing sprinklers before some sod, someday when we have money. Phew.

Happy New Year!!!

HOORAY FOR NEW YEARS! I love the beginning of a new year so we can start new things, and breath a little after the holidays. Although I haven't felt like we could breath so much this year with having us be busy in callings, and work meetings, and a trip coming, talking in church, a broken leg. It's all kinda piled on us suddenly. Oh well, we're taking it in strides.

Our New Years holiday was wonderful. It was very low key with just our family. Daddy world part of the day, so we made balloons full of activities that on the hour we would pop and it'd give us a new game to play or something else to do. I really enjoyed doing it, and so did the kids. It's a nice way to do things if you don't have company here. Fun times.
playing some of the games
One activity we looked at pictures from throughout our year and reminised and talked about all the things we did and loved. It was one of my favorite parts. Then we set goals for 2015.
For dinner and dessert we did Fondue. It was our first attempt at cheese fondue and it didn't quite turn out, but we still enjoyed it and will try it again. Our dessert had the works tho and was wonderful. :)
Fun pictures was one of the things in our balloons
More fun games that we haven't done before-we always buy a few new games for new years.
Pictures from Dessert

We played glow in the dark games. This is around the time we lost Milo. New Years I let my kids stay up as late as they want. Milo asked to go to bed around ten, so we obliged. The other two made it till midnight and didn't want to go to bed. Ha!

We did some fun new puzzles as it got closer. I liked doing this a lot, the kids had fun. Our ninja turtle one ended up being rather hard because of the coloring, so we all finished that one together.
It was SOOOOO windy that night, but the kids insisted on banging pots and pans. So I ran outside with them for a few minutes and then we hustled back inside. Because of the wind we did sparklers and snaps a few days later. Having the kids and Adam home for a nice long weekend was wonderful, and I was so super sad when school and work started up again. Oh well, at least our holidays were enjoyable.
