THANKSGIVING

This past week we had my parents here following Adam's parents. We had two weeks of fun with grandparents. My parents were out here for Thanksgiving, and helped make a yummy meal, with lots of munchies to go with. We tried giving Gabe mashes potatoes, but she wasn't interested. There was lots of hanging out and watching football while here. We watched movies, went to the movies (Thanks Janene), we ran errands, & played games. Janene kicked rear at the farming game, and Dad at phase 10. I think we need rematches, cause we both lost. :) We got to visit Virginia City, which we love, and Adam took Dad shooting. We got In and Out a few times, some pizza, and some really good left over turkey sandwiches. We even went to see the lights on this house in southern Reno that are programed to music. Lots of fun! Poor Gabe was so off schedule she didn't know what to do with herself. It was tricky. Thanks Janene for being willing to play with her at midnight, or five AM. You're the best. (So very unlike my child by the way)
Surprisingly enough she still seemed to be her happy smiley self despite the fact she was sleep deprived. Not sure if I can say the same for myself, but we enjoyed having you guys here and can't wait to see you again. I hope to get Gabe back on schedule before Utah. Here are so more fun pics from the past week...

Poppa & Nanna come to visit

So this past weekend we got to have Nanna and Poppa Fluke here to visit. We weren't sure how Gabe would take to them, cause she is already getting wary of people she doesn't know as well. It ended up being great. She adored them, and even cuddled with them when sad. I think it helped the we were at home too. I think that'll make it easier when we travel to Utah in December. Hurray! She got to play with them, read books, cuddle, go on walks, go shopping, and got lots of hugs and kisses. SHE LOVED THE ATTENTION. This morning she kept waiting for them to show up. She and Greta both. Thanks for the fun visit and all you helped us do! Thanks for sharing Ad's birthday. We love you guys!

Happy Birthday Adam!

So today is Ad's birthday and I decided that I'd do a post about how wonderful I think he is. He is turning 26, even though you'd never guess that. I have this fear that I'll grow up and get old looking, and Adam will look young forever. Ha. So I can honestly say I'm the luckiest lady in the world. I know that might seem a little bias, but it's true. Adam is the best husband anyone could ask for. In the (almost) four years that we've been married, he's been so patient and loving with me. He listens to me vent and calms me down when I get all upset over something stupid. He lets me know things will turn out just fine when I'm stressing out, which is usually often. He has the most easy going personality. He's always doing something nice for me, and will do anything to make sure that I'm happy. He is always making me laugh or smile. He is the such a provider, and cares so much about our little family. He is so devoted to Christ and the gospel, and serves in every calling so well. He is the best Daddy. The first thing he wants to do when he gets home is hold Gabe. He calls her beautiful (and booger), and tells her how much he missed her that day. She gets this huge smile as soon as she sees him and doesn't stop until she goes to bed. He still makes time to play with Greta, cause he is her favorite as well. He is always giving, and is the most selfless person I've ever met. We feel so grateful to have him in our lives. He is such a blessing in our family and brings us JOY. Happy birthday Ad! We love your guts!
Here are some pics from our early b-day dinner at Ruby River. It was yummy, thanks guys!

6 months... a few days early

So I decided that I would post Gabe's 6 month update a little early due to the fact that it lands on Adam's birthday, and I'd like to do a post about that. Yes they both have birthdays on the 22nd of the month. I think it's cute, and even though I was late with her, I thought it was fun she could match her daddy on the 22nd.
I honestly can't believe that it has already been half a year, before I know it another half will pass and she'll be one. I feel like this month she has grown too fast. She is learning, copying, and expressing so much. We adore her, she brings us so much joy.

*So she has been able to sit up on her own for a while, but finally has figured out how to put her hands down and catch herself. She's not an expert at it yet, but will be soon.
*She dives, lunges, and stretches to reach anything in sight, even as you are walking by something. She's pretty determined.
* She is kinda talking more. She mostly just grumbles and says MMMM MMMM. She hasn't quite figured to open her mouth to say stuff. Although when she gets frustrated she has this scream/squawk she likes to do. It's not the prettiest noise ever.

* She rolls to get what she wants, but still hates being on her tummy.
*She loves her veggies. I can't get her to eat fruit. She has been having tummy aches, due to rice cereal and other things, that we are just now getting solved. Hurray I can sleep again! She is sleeping much better for night time, and still goes down excellent with her naps.
*She just learned to clack her tongue, and keeps it going most of the day cause she likes the noise. She still blows raspberries, usually when she starts getting bored.

*She is just realizing when something is on her head, and is trying to figure how to get it off..... so we'll see how much patience she has for headbands. I can't win making her girlie.
* She loves every minute she gets to be with Daddy. I can make faces and noises and sing songs all day long to her, and all adam has to do is walk in the door and he has her giggling. I love that she is such a Daddy's girl.

*She has learned to pinch. When she cries she automatically grabs tight to anything she can, gotta watch the face.
* She loves to drink water out of anything she can, and isn't a fan of juice yet. I'm okay with that.
*She is entertained by Greta's craziness. Greta can run circles around her, and she loves it.
*She loves walks in the stroller outside, but isn't a fan of shopping in the store.

* She loves other little kids that will entertain her
*She loves bath time with Daddy, he has the better games than I do

It is none stop fun at our house. She brings so much life to our family. We love every minute we get to be with her, and feel so blessed to have her. We love being parents, and couldn't ask for a sweeter spirit in our home. We love you Gabrielle!

A Fun Day at the Park

This morning Adam and decided we would take Greta out to this huge dog park in North Reno to give her a chance to play. It's a couple of field lengths long. She hasn't had as much dog interaction lately, so we figured it'd be good for her to get out. Not wanting to get Gabe and myself attached by curious dogs, we decided to walk around the park while they played. It's this huge park with tons of pavilions, walking paths, playgrounds, and tons of grass. It's the same place we watch fireworks, the air balloon races, and other things in the summer time. Then right next to it is the huge dog park. Afterwards we all played on the toys before heading out. It was a lot of fun..... Gabe's first time playing at the park. Here are a bunch of pics.

She of course tried to roll over in the tunnel

Tinker bell

For those of you who aren't aware, I LOVE DISNEY MOVIES. Okay so I know this is kinda cheesy, but I figured it was good. So if you didn't know they just came out with a Tinker bell movie, about her story. I think it's a very cute concept. So I got a chance to watch it, and loved it. (You should see it) I think it's got such a good moral to the story, and it is totally one I'd want Gabe to watch being a female. So if you don't want to know what happens, skip the next paragraph. There is your spoiler warning. HA.
So she becomes a fairy, and finds out her special talent is tinkering, or fixing things. She thinks it's really lame, cause everyone else's talents seem so cool. She wants to be a garden or nature fairy instead. She wants to help things grow, or help baby birds fly, not weave baskets or fix wagons. She's kinda the "handyman". So she begs all her friends (the other fairies in this picture) to teach her their talents, refusing to tinker.  Well she sucks at all of them. In the end realizes that she can be most helpful with her talents, and learns to love them.
SO MY POINT IS, sometimes I feel like tinker bell. :) I think being a woman surrounded by talented women can be very hard and intimidating. I get down on myself and refuse to accept talents I have or recognize my own. I WANT EVERYONE ELSE'S. I get frustrated when I'm not good at certain things too. I know God gave us all special different talents on purpose, and we need to recognize what we can be good at. We shouldn't ignore them cause then we'll lose them. I think trying new things to develop talents is good don't get me wrong. I guess I just need to be more grateful for the ones I have, and develop them further. What a funny reminder from a cheesy disney movie. So for all of you great women in my life, thanks for all the wonderful things you do, and I hope you can recognize your special divine gifts too. I think you're all great!

Day light savings

I decided today after I got up an hour before I needed to for a meeting, that I hate day light savings. My whole day was SO VERY messed up. Adam and I are famous for showing up for church too early. We luckily didn't this year. Half of our clocks were set to one time, and some to another. I finally begged Adam to set them all the same, cause I was going crazy. I kept saying in my mind, did I feed Gabe at this time or this time? Did she wake up from her nap at this time or this time? My whole day has been a whirl wind of confusion. I love how they say I will gain an hour. Gain an hour!? My daughter is now going to be getting up for the day an hour earlier. (which now won't be okay cause the time change) How does that help? Adam and I were just saying how we felt like we were just getting Gabe's sleeping back on track FINALLY and..........day light savings. Now I get to try and slowly work her schedule back. *Sigh* Ah well. Just thought I'd ramble on a bit........
