This day I made into two posts. Super silly I know, but it's the day we went to Harry Potter. And even though nobody will care for these pictures unless you've been there, we do. We both took pics of everything with four different cameras. There is something so cool about seeing sets of movies, especially ones you love. The detail that goes into everything is amazing.
This is the morning that they had meetings. One of the mornings they have some meetings for the FA's. The second part the spouses join them for shorter meeting. Mostly about what you can go and do around London, tours you can join, how to get places, etc.
We found out we'd have to ride an actual train to get to the set. So we took the underground to the train station. We got there early, cause we weren't sure how to do things. We wanted to make sure we have plenty of time. There was a fast train and a slow train. We actually wanted to take the slower one to view sites and cause we had the time. But the conductor guy told no way, we'd want a fast one and had us go the fast one. There were no seats together, but close enough luckily.
When we got off, there was a bus station just for the movie set that took you out to it. We had time before it left so we went to eat at this little cafe for lunch. It was horrible. I got a sandwich and Adam a burger. The sandwich came with nothing on it. Adam's burger tasted like a school lunch burger. The food was never very good. They don't put ice in drinks. It drove Ad crazy. When you did ask for ice you'd get like 2 pieces. So funny.
It took about 20 minutes to get out to it. It fun to drive thru the country and see how pretty it was.
This is where you stood in line. Your ticket had an entry time. And you entered as a group.
This was the smallest set they made for the movie. You got to see it while you waited. When you finally went in, you sat in a few theaters to watch some of the best clips from the movies. When it was done the screen pulled up and you entered the great hall. It was so fun.
The tables were pushed to the sides of the set. The teachers costumes up front. On the sides costumes from the actors were grouped in their houses. The sorting hat was in the center.
After the great hall you walked thru this area that told about the directors and some of the making of them. Then it jumped into sets and costumes, and how they did hair and make up.
Then the big sets came and they were my favorite. I was in nerd heaven.
They had the main drops on display, and behind them this caged area that had just tons of extra props from all the movies. It was nuts.
There were so many details in each set that I had never even noticed in the movies. It just makes you want to go back and find these in the movies as you watch.
This area had all the Quidditch info. How they made it, how you flew. They had these simulators that you could go ride a broom to make it look like you were flying. We did that, and the one in the car. But they don't let you take pics in there and they make you pay a lot to buy them.
This was out favorite set to see. Cause the dishes washed themselves and the quilting needles moving. It had the most magical stuff going on.
