It really doesn't snow here. Last year it did one night and was gone the next day. So the fact that we got around 6 inches was a pretty big deal. They canceled church, but still had school. We ended up just taking Gabe to school most of the week cause we never knew what to expect from the buses. They were always late cause of the roads. We have no plows down here, there isn't a need. So people with tractors were plowing streets. Plus I really didn't want to stand outside with the kids in the cold if Adam could take her. We had quite a few days of fun in the snow with the kiddos.
I would normally never just send my kids out in jeans to play, but I also am not going to spend money on snow clothes that we will NEVER use. So jeans and light mittens it was. In the future when the kids are older we'd like to invest in some and take trips up north to ski or sled or even spend a few days with relatives. BUT we are poor and some day isn't this year. So we made do with what we had. We did have a blast though and had a legit reason to drink hot chocolate. :)
I couldn't get Milo to put socks on his hands, we had no mittens for him. So I kept his jacket pulled down over his hands. He just watched everyone in fascination. He later helped build the snow man with his bare hands. He didn't even freak out about the cold.
Poor Ollie's pants are too big, so they pull down his undies. I couldn't resist the pic. Don't worry I tightened them more later to help prevent more crackage.
Gabe has always loved the snow and just a few days before the big storms told me she was sad we moved somewhere where we don't get snow. She wanted to know why we would do that knowing she loves it. :) Ollie last year wanted nothing to do with the snow we did get. We couldn't even get him outside in the cold. This year he was all about it, so it was a lot of fun watching the kids play together in it.
