Time to Celebrate. With most of our birthdays clustered around May and June, Ollie has such a hard time waiting until September for his birthday to come around. So when it finally does he is so excited for it all. It's super fun. He decided way back in May that he wanted a Fireman birthday. So Fireman it was.
We had flames all over our house.
Waking up ready for the day!
We have a family in our ward whose Dad is a Fireman. We don't know him very well, but Adam knows the sons well. He had talked to Tyler, the priest about bringing Ollie to the station to see the trucks for his birthday. Tyler is a certified EMT but just is working on getting his hours. He plans to be a Fire Fighter as well. He is down at the station almost as much as his Dad. So we told us to come down whenever. So after finally working things out with them we let our friends know. Kinda last minute, but we told them it would be ahead of time and told them it was ok if they couldn't come. They all ended up being able to. We also tried to get Ollie to invite some other primary kids from his class, but he wouldn't have it. It freaked him out and made him anxious. So just the twins Kollin and Kleyton down the road from us who are in his primary and preschool class, and some of the Wadsworth kids. We told the parents they could come with us if they wanted, so they did, and we had a few babies along with us. It worked out well. Tyler had told us as long as they didn't get a call they could come, well the Firemen were gone on a call and Tyler stayed to show us around anyway which was very nice.
Trying on the Fireman gear. He liked looking around but didn't like being on the spot trying stuff on. Stinker.
They all got to get in the trucks and ambulance.
Listening to their hearts in the ambulance.
A picture by the hoses and the "couch" which was a back seat of a car they pulled out a while back.
They let us come inside the Fire house and look around. The kids lounged in the the lounge area.
Ollie just wanted a piƱata for his birthday. He was most excited about it. We let all the kids have a turn then we let Ollie destroy it.
We didn't have cake or cookies or anything else I tried to come up with. We had ice cream sundaes. Ollie had his favorite vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. Cute boy.
We had this obstacle course game outside which I took no pictures of for some reason. They had to ride the truck, and put on the jacket, go down the slide, climb the ladder to rescue the cat from the tree, put on their backpack water pack, throw a water balloon at the wall, jump over the noodles, and in the rings, go to the pretend house (his small tent) and spray the fire and rescue the baby, put out the car fire, spray their parent who was on fire and then race back, take off their gear climb through the tunnel and it was the next person's turn. Phew. The kids loved it. Ollie and Gabe played on it before and after the party for a while cause they loved it.
Ollie got a remote control car from Gabe and Milo and a Firehouse from Mommy and Daddy that he's been begging for.
We had to take a break mid day for Gabe's soccer game and for Milo's nap, but Daddy still took him to drive his car on some hills. Then he wanted to go get pizza for dinner. He didn't want a sit down place, he just wanted Papa John's so he could have the garlic dipping sauce. :) So we went to the University and ate one these tables while it rained around us. It wasn't the most ideal birthday meal for us, but for Ollie it was perfect so that's all that matters.
