Life with Gabrielle

It's been a bit since I spotlighted my kiddos so it's about time I get to it. I'll wait and do Ollie's cause his birthday is in a few weeks. So until then, here's one about Gabe and one for Milo shortly following. 

Gabe is staying very busy right now. She now does full day school which she loves, especially that she gets to eat lunch at school. It's one of her favorite parts. She has money in her school account but so far we have sent her with lunch. School lunch doesn't look too appealing to her, but she talks about wanting to try it out soon. Too bad she and Briana eat like sloths and some times don't get enough time to eat their food amongst their slow eating selves and all their chatter. 

 Recess is her other favorite part. She think it's amazing that she gets 3 of them. :) She still loves Chinese and art class of course. She finally had her first break down about Chinese the other day. I'm surprised it didn't come sooner. She's worried she isn't doing her math right, but she is. It's just that she is instructed in Chinese. I was relieved so see that they are structured in how they are teaching things. She is learning a lot! I had one mom tell me a few weeks ago all her son could say. I worried Gabe hadn't told me. So I asked her to count to ten and she counted past it. And she told me a bunch of sayings she knows. So I'm getting better at making sure I quiz her about what she learned in her Chinese day. It's nice to know she is learning more than came across. She is getting everything right and I asked her teacher at my SEP meeting how I can help her with being more confident in math. Her SEP went well and showed how well she is doing at reading, and where she is on everything else. She is doing great our smart girl! I guess they don't test them until the end of the year to see how well they really know Chinese stuff. 

She is doing dance twice a week and will soon be trying soccer. Well we went with the same dance place cause of the price and we are already regretting it. So we'll finish out the semester and try something else. There are two other places opening up that haven't yet so we are hoping to get in with one of those. Briana's mom already pulled her out. So Gabe is super bummed not to have her with her, but she still loves it regardless and has her first performance this weekend for Hurricane's Peach Days celebration. 

I'm not sure she'll love soccer, cause she's got short little legs compared to other kids her age and ends up having to run twice as much to keep up, but she's determined to try so we'll let her. 

Reading time with Milo. She usually has both boys with her when she has to get in her reading for school. They love it, and she loves feeling like she's big. 

Here are some stories about her I had saved in my phone:

*G: (pointing up our street) If Jesus lived in one of those houses I'd go talk to him all the time

Dad: If Jesus lived in one of those houses I'd go borrow his four wheelers.

*She always says, "Mom that happened such a long time ago, when I was like five."

*There was this song that talked about rolling up to a party. She asked what that meant. I explained you drive up in something that other people will think is cool so they think you're cool. She goes, "Oh! Like a carriage! Or a rocket! Rockets are cool!" :)

*She is in the funny stage where we put her to sleep and she comes down a few minutes later about something. She always seems to find a new excuse each time. She can't sleep, she hears noise, she needs a drink, she heard us calling her, there are crocodiles under her bed. :) Always something new. 

*She newest accomplishments: Buckling herself in the car, taking a shower doing everything by herself, being able to read a lot of books in our kid collection and a lot of the scriptures, and doing her chores by herself. :) 

Ok POST UPDATE!: This is what happens when I slack in posting. The dance place that she was going to is basically closing down. So we get to go try some different ones in town that have opened up. (previous partners to the place we were at that just opened) Now if I can get my money back from the other place, we'll be set. :/ 

Gabe has had her first game. She is one of the only ones who hasn't played before and one of the only  1st graders. The rest are in 2nd grade and a little more experienced. So she was super nervous and scared her first game. SOOOO not like her. Once she started playing and got comfortable she LOVED it. She did have to work a lot to keep up with these bigger girls, and she did. One quarter her coach asked for volunteers for goalie, and she was all up for it. HA! We were surprised. She didn't get much action as goalie, cause our team was pretty good at scoring the other way. So proud of how well she did and her willingness to try new things. We'll see how the rest of the season goes. 

*Gabe told me one day, "Mom when I speak Chinese I think I sound like a minion."

* "Mom, can butterflies fly if their wings are wet?"

"I don't know honey, I doubt it."

"Well, look it up on the website and find out."

(She meant internet)
