My poor baby girl. She is miserable and not even close to being better. Last Thursday she broke out with a really high fever for a few days that we couldn't get it under control. Then it just went away. I kept waiting for other symptoms to show up, and they didn't. Gabe then started reaching in her mouth and saying, "Ouch, Ouch." I figured she was getting molars, cause that where she was pointing. Saturday came and she all of sudden had canker sores all over her mouth. I mean ALL OVER. On her tongue, inside her cheeks, on the inside of her lips, all over. She had at least ten that we could see. Her gums have swollen almost over her teeth from the inflammation. So needless to say she's in pain.
We took her to the doctor Monday morning and he diagnosed her with Coxashie virus. He told us she was a little ahead of the game in getting it, it happens more in older kids. I don't know what it is with my child and viruses. He pointed out even more cankers in her mouth that we couldn't see. He told us it really is one of the most painful things a kid can go through. Talking and eating hurt it. Her appetite is gone and getting food in her is the hardest thing ever. She's been living on applesauce, yogurt, ice cream, pudding, popsicles, and some breads/muffins she'll eat. He told us to pretty much feed her cold milkshakes for a week and a half. I still am trying to get some other healthier options in her, but she does enjoy the ice cream part of it. It does last for a week and a half usually. We are coming upon a week, and let me tell you it has been the longest one I've had in a while. We are both ready for our girl to feel better. She doesn't sleep and really wakes up every half hour to an hour in the night screaming, "OUCH!" that's with the medicine we are giving her. I've had her sleep better with a double ear infection. No sleep, no food, and in pain.....you can imagine what kind of a ornery sad girl we are dealing with. It makes it tricky me not getting sleep being prego either. He also told us she could get the blisters on her hands and feet as well ( leading to hand,foot, and mouth disease). We've noticed a few blisters on her feet, but they aren't bothering her-thankfully. It's supposedly pretty contagious, and so we won't be socializing a whole lot in the next week. Our poor bug, It's gonna be another long week. I hate it when your child is sick, and you have to helplessly watch.

Dang! Thats so sad, I hate when little ones are sick. :( I hope she gets better quickly! Poor girl.
Oh thats awful! One or two canker sores in the mouth is awful enough. That's enough to make me cranky. I can't even imagine having that many. Poor girl! At least they should be on their way out in a couple of days. :(
Yikes!! That sounds horrible! I complain when I just have one canker sore. Poor Gabrielle. Give her hugs from Trina and Steve. (I would say kisses, but I dont want to hurt her.)
P.S. If you made some homemade milkshakes with sugar free frozen yogurt and fruit it would make it more healthy. Or even like smoothies with regular yogurt and fruit. At least then she'll get something healthy. Also, if you puree cooked carrots and stuff, you can mix those in for vitamins and stuff without them being a strong taste. I did that to Steve every once in a while cuz he wont eat veggies.
I'm so sorry, I can only imagine how tough that is! I had hand, foot, and mouth disease when I was 13 or 14. Thankfully it never made it to my mouth, haha just the feet. It was HORRIBLE, I could not walk! Bless her little heart! I hope she is able to start sleeping and you too!
When you mentioned the virus the other day I didn't think too much of it and then I remember Owen got it too when he was about 2. He was so sick and had a double ear infection also. Crazy! The sores were on his gums and everything.
