Around the House

Well this week around our house has not been our favorite at all. I haven't blogged a lot, I've been busy. The flu has circulated among us. It hasn't hit us all either, so we are hoping that we won't have another week of it. I really wondered when we would get it, cause EVERYONE around us has it. Yes we did get flu shots too. Although my doctor did tell me it doesn't prevent getting the flu, just the severe kind that hospitalizes you. (So here's hoping we don't get the chicken pox that is also circulating our ward-my kids have had the vaccination as well)
It started last Monday, Ollie was acting a little grumpy. It threw us off. He is done with naps-kind of. So he'll still have an occasional grumpy day where we try and get him to take one to kinda "catch up"with life. So we didn't think much of it until we were all getting ready Tuesday morning to go visiting teaching. Yes, I get to take all three kids with me. It's lovely, cause my partner claims mornings are the only thing she can do. It's a long obnoxious story. Anyway, he started throwing up all over the kitchen floor. Fun times. Luckily it wasn't the carpet. Freaked Adam out a bit, he doesn't do well with throw up. I was in feeding Milo, so he was a little thrown off how to help him, when he was in his work clothes ready to leave. :) Gabe is a little dramatic, so she came in freaking out screaming Ollie was throwing up.
So it was a day full of throwing up. He would throw up so much about every other hour. Poor boy. Then he would just want food. I would tell him no (knowing he'd just throw it up and needed liquids), but he'd insist. So I'd try some crackers, and he'd throw them up. I freak out, period, when Ollie gets a fever. It can cause another seizure. Plus the last time he had the flu, is when he had one. I know I'm paranoid, but I can't help it. It was a scary experience for us all. One I never want to experience again. So I don't leave his side when he's sick, and he's kinda babied. BUT really when your kid is sick, it's hard not to baby them.

I did lots of wash this day. I finally grabbed my waterproof mattress pads, and put those under him, and just swapped those three out when he'd puke. He's not a good aim, cause he doesn't get that yet. He didn't want to puke in the pot. Luckily his only was a 24 hour thing. He didn't act too hungry for a few days after, but he didn't puke.

This is the picture that Gabe drew Ollie so he'd feel better. It's of him throwing up. :) The little circles are the throw up on the kitchen floor. Daddy's face is pretty accurate too.
When the rest of the week went by with out any incidents we thought we dodged a bullet. Then Saturday night Gabe said she had a tummy ache. When we put her to bed she was white as a ghost, so we automatically put the puking pot by her bed. She needed it about ten minutes later. She is a lot easier to deal with than Ollie. Poor thing was bawling though, asking if we could make it so she wouldn't throw up, cause she doesn't like to. Luckily puking lasted only through the night, but it was through the night. It was hard. We made both kids sleep in our room the night they were sick. We woke to Ollie blowing raspberries, and laughing at himself in his sleep. Pretty classically funny. Pretty sure even in his sleep he thought tooting noises were funny. Gabe just moaned and groaned all night. Poor thing. :( She woke up feeling better, but still under the weather. Today was the first day she felt good. Phew. Too bad Adam felt sick yesterday. Yes Adam. Poor guy still went to work and trucked it through the day. Mainly at his desk getting things done that he needed to. He never threw up, but had a few yucky days. So cross your fingers neither Milo or I get it. It was interesting just going to church with Ollie. I get one on one with him lots at home, just not at places. So it was kinda nice to just be with my little man. I had to teach a lesson so Milo stayed with Adam and Gabe.
I do think Milo is teething though, so that adds to the joyous week.

In fun pictures, Ollie is our "fix it" man. He gets in his gear, and grabs his tools and asks me what he can fix for me. I'll tell him the couch, or a chair, etc and he'll go hammer it. When he's done he announces he did it for me. Love him.
Milo was his "helper". He just hung out and slobbered on all his toy tools, but Ollie didn't mind.

I hate being sick and I hate Michael being sick even more. He is not a patient patient if you get my meaning. Thankfully we have been skipped those far this year. I hope everyone is feeling better soon. NO FUN!
