We got in from our trip in the Afternoon the Saturday before Easter. We were pooped from flying all day. We were extremely grateful Nana was willing to help out and leave Sunday. Coming home and worrying about getting stuff done for dinner, or the next day didn't sound too fun. It was fun having her around for the holiday. My kids liked the extra person to show stuff off too, or have help them hunt for eggs.
Prep work -I think I ate more than I stuffed. :) I enjoyed chatting as well.
"Dear Easter Bunny-Hide the eggs in the house tricky" -Gabe
Gabe and Ollie had been practicing hunting for eggs all week with Nana and were really good at it. So Gabe told me she wanted the Easter Bunny to hide her eggs really good and tricky so she could see if she could find them. So we wrote him a note.
He wrote back telling her he did, and after she found some in the house, he had a surprise in store. He assigned them colors to find as well. I think this year maybe he shouldn't have assigned colors and waited one more year. Ollie was really confused by it. He just wanted to find eggs, and sometimes it was hard. He just would be happy to find one, then we'd say no that's not yours and he'd be sad. The surprise the Easter bunny had in store was more eggs hidden outside, which Ollie was better at, cause he just had to find a certain amount. SOOO amount might be better than finding colors at young ages. In the future I think finding your color is smart for Easter bunny to do. Ah well.
We had kinda a Disney themed Easter. It's ok, my kids LOVE Mickey stuff, and still love the stuff they got. Their favorite is probably the water squirters though. They play so much with them, and they can do them without assistance. Although the cars, and coloring books have gotten good use as well. I promise Ollie's coloring book is full of all sorts of Disney characters, even though it has Minnie on the cover. It's a good one for him. He colors the Mickey and Pluto pics the most, they are his favorite.
Gabe got a "real" digital watch, which she loves, and we love cause it's helping her learn her numbers better. Now Ollie wants one too, and puts on this old broken one Gabe found in a cache somewhere so he can tell time too.
Gabe has a stuffed Minnie, and Ollie a stuffed Mickey, so Milo got goofy. He loves the thing. LOVES it. It's kinda funny how excited he gets to see it.
I love seeing kid's first reaction to the grass. He just wanted to eat it.
He recognized what his sippy cup was right away.
Finding some eggs
Exploring the hidden treasures in the eggs.
Loving his goofy
Playing with Nana before she headed out
Nana headed out a little bit later. We just relaxed most of the day. We actually didn't go to church. We know, what a horrible day to miss and we felt bad, but is was rough. Milo was miserable adjusting. He screamed most of the night. Poor Nana trying to sleep. The kids acted like they had just gotten home from vacation as well. They were tired and grumpy. I feel bad for any out of normal characteristics Nana had to deal with, cause we know there were some. We felt a little better later and had a nicer chicken dinner. The next night for FHE we had a Easter/Jesus lesson that the kids enjoyed with eggs. We watched some "He is Risen" Clips as well. So we did manage to express to them the Easter importance a little bit. Better late than never I guess.
