Hawaii Day 3 (Monday)

Monday was our first real play day and the sunniest day. It was super sunny and warm. In the morning Daddy had to go to a meeting for an hour and a half. Along with the General Partner that comes, a wholesaler for a certain company comes as well. This guy was from Pacific Life. He was nice, and had his older kids with him. When you go on these trips you have one morning you go to a wholesaler meeting, just like Adam does in regular work life. We had three EJ dinners that they want you to go to as well. (A welcome dinner, a Luau, and a farewell dinner) The other dinners the GP or Wholesaler may invite you to are optional, and other times you can do what you want. 

This morning was a little stressful cause the hotel took half our money as a deposit for our week stay. We get why they did, but we didn't think about them doing it and didn't have a lot left for the week. I guess we don't travel enough to realize places do that. Dually noted for the future. It was just a long stay at an expensive hotel, so the deposit was a lot more than we thought. We stay short times at hotels that charge you later if you have charges, not ones that take it out in advance and refund if not used. Kinda annoying. We called the manager and let him know we wouldn't be doing much at the hotel that would have charges, so they luckily refunded it early. That would have been a hard week. And when we did check out we didn't have a single charge like we knew we wouldn't. 

Anyway we woke up to a breakfast buffet, and then Adam was off to meetings. While he was there Milo and I went for a beach walk.

Milo liked the visor down so he could put his legs on it. It was cute.

Our hotel room was nice, but not as cool as the grounds. The shower was super nice though. Our bathroom door had a mirror on it that Milo loved. It entertained him lots while we were there. We hung out in the hotel and got ready for the day while we waited for Daddy. They had a meeting for both of us all about stuff we could go and do on the island and answer questions, but Adam went to it alone, cause Milo took a nap. When Daddy was done we headed to the beach with our week rented snorkel gear. We went to Poipu beach. One side was mainly for swimming, and the other that had corral was mainly for snorkeling. We tried out our snorkeling there. 

His first beach trip. He was fascinated by the sand, and I kept the binky in most of our beach time so he wouldn't eat the sand. That's all he wanted to do was eat it. He didn't care to crawl around in it much, but he did like to grab it.  

He didn't love walking in the sand or the water. He loved to watch it, but not touch it. 

That is a sea turtle in the water. We saw some every time we went to the beach. They were huge and would draw a crowd as they tried swimming to shore. It made the locals really mad, cause they are endangered. So I guess you can get tickets if you don't leave it alone. I kinda felt bad people wouldn't get out of its way. People who snorkeled out far said they saw a bunch in the water. We didn't snorkel far enough out to see any though.  

We saw some fun fish while we snorkeled. 

We actually saw a bunch of these. We liked the "Nemo" fish and rainbow ones the best.  Luckily no sharks, which really aren't very common there I guess. We did see whales from the beach way off in the water too. I guess we hit the very end of whale migration season. 

 

Not loving this idea

I was a little freaked out by snorkeling at first. Put me in a lake and I'll do whatever. The ocean makes me nervous. I'm not a good swimmer, and I hate not knowing what's under me. I guess I'm afraid something will eat me. It doesn't help we talked to someone who stepped on a poisonous sea urchin. I also don't love the salt in my mouth. I sound fun to go to the beach with huh? I have to prep talk myself and warm up to it. SOOO I was a little claustrophobic, and at first I couldn't get the mask not to leak. Then my eyes burned, which I later found out was the from the cleaner they clean the masks with. So I wasn't out there long the first time we went. I would have done better if I wasn't solo. And even though there are so many others in the water, there were still fish everywhere. I didn't like swimming so close above the corral. I think i'd prefer some depth, which you can pay to go do. Someday we want to. We talked to people who paid to ride a boat out further in some cove to snorkel and saw tons of turtles, dolphins, and some whales. Pretty cool. When you have a baby, you're a little limited. We were happy with it though, and I got better at it the more I tried it. . 

I see these pics on Pinterest or people taking pics of their feet on different trips. I think it's way fun, so we tried it. It's hard! We tried with Milo's feet too, it didn't work. 

He didn't love me putting him down.

After the beach we went to Spouting Horn. It shoots water out of the rocks like a geyser. I guess you have to time it right we were told. We didn't see it shoot very high, but I guess it does. We went here cause we were told the local venders that sell stuff have some good stuff. We agreed, and bought most of our souvenirs here later in the week.

Adam did get a virtual cash here. 

So Adam was told he needed to try a Puka dog. It's like a glorified hot dog. It's a hot dog with special mango or fruit sauces. He got Mango relish with some kind of special mustard. I did take a bite to say I did try it and almost threw up. Not really, but those who know me know I HATE hot dogs. I don't even love the smell. Adam enjoyed it though. I did like the sauce, it was good. 

We headed back to the hotel to get cleaned up and give Milo a good nap instead of the power naps he was taking. We had dinner at this place called Rum Fire with the wholesaler. We almost didn't go, but we already RSVP'd. So we went and got lost, but found the place after a while. It was in another hotel. It had ocean views right out your window, which were amazing. The crappy thing was we were the only couple to show up and eat with the wholesaler and his family. Had it been Kay and her family it wouldn't have mattered, but it was a little awkward. Two other couples bailed, which wasn't very considerate. The nice thing was, Milo slept through most of dinner until the very end when we were waiting for the check. It would have been hard with the akward company and a screaming baby. No sympathetic moms at this dinner this time. I did get a virgin Pina Colada and some yummy shrimp flatbread pizza out of it. Adam got another Filet, and it wasn't as good I guess. We were happy to go back to the hotel. We tried finding some shaved ice place that was open for dessert, but couldn't find one. So we got some ice cream at a gas station. We planned to watch a show once Milo was asleep, but we fell asleep too. We were beat.
