Life with Gabrielle

I know I do these often, but I would love to remember all of these things. Plus I keep my list recorded in my notes app on my phone and when it starts to get long or when I have random pictures of her, it's time for another post. So I guess don't be surprised if they always pop up? (So I can stop saying things like my first sentence) Whenever I have the time, I like to squeeze them in. When Ollie is older I hope to do it for him too. (and every other kid after that) I love the everyday things that I hear from this girl.

*Gabe loves to give thumbs up for everything. She usually accompanies it with a big cheesy grin
*We CAN NOT for the life of us get her to eat dinner right now. (not sure if I've already told about that) The other meals aren't bad, cause she is served something she doesn't mind eating. Dinner is a chore. We've tried everything. I'm about to try bribing with the girl, cause it worked for her potty issues. She's really good when you give her a goal and reward and use positive reinforcement. Think that would work for eating food? We usually play the "winning game". Whoever eats their food the fastest wins. Gabe still eats like a turtle, but it gets her to eat. It has started to loose it flare though, so onto other things to try I guess.

*Gabe was obsessed with the show Blues Clues for a while and one episode has this song that sings, "Don't give up, just keep trying." It's kinda Gabe's song. She especially likes to sing it when I'm working out and I stop for a second to rest. She likes to sing it to me and remind me I need to keep trying, and that I can do it. My own little cheerleader. Ha! She does it for everything. When I get frustrated at something, I get the song. It's a nice little reminder to be positive and hilarious when she chooses to sing it to me.

*You will often hear her say, "Mommy, I have something to tell you." Or she'll say, "Mom listen to me, we need to talk."

*There is a cemetery up the road from us and she wanted to know what it was. So we had a nice discussion one day about dying and our bodies being buried, and Jesus coming again and our spirits get their bodies back (all that good resurrection stuff), etc....
Now when we pass it she usually recites that same lesson back. Until one day we passed when there were flowers everywhere. She asked what is was, and I explained it's the cemetery.
She says to me, "No mom. I think that's the Easter Egg place and the Easter bunny lives there." Who knew he lived in cemeteries?

She also is mad every time we pass it she never sees workers burying people. (She asked how they get in the ground and we explained the workers lower them in.) Some day that thought will freak her out, right now she just wants to see it.

*Adam always says to me, "Check this out." Gabe repeats everything and for a while would tell me, "Hey mom, Check this up."

*When I was telling her about the people who were coming to visit for Labor day, she goes, "Whoa that's a lot of people! Just like in the scriptures!" (We read the night before about Jesus feeding five thousand) It wasn't quite that many but at least she got something out of the reading right?

*She always starts things off by saying, "Mom do you remember...." One day she said to me, "Mom, do you remember the birds and the bees...." then there was a big pause. I was thinking....Yes, yes I do?... (I know it was innocent, but it threw me off having it start that way) After the pause she went on," And the flowers, and the trees, and the grass at the park. I like those tiger birds, and animal birds." Oh good, me too.

* She tells stories at lunch, and some of them come out of nowhere. One day Adam came home for lunch and I could hear her telling him, "Daddy, do you remember when I was dying when I was little? Then I saw Mommy and Daddy and Ollie and the temple? My favorite one where I wanna get married. Then someone had a baby named Cheeky. Then when we got home I was hungry. Then I was a princess named Gabe,...." It went on and on. I couldn't help thinking, Welcome to my lunch hour. :) (also I hope to never meet a kid named cheeky)

*I asked her one day to help keep an eye on her brother for me while I cooked dinner. She agreed and left the kitchen. She comes back in and asks, "Which eye mom? This one or this one?" ( you can picture her pointing to each of them can't you? Well she did)
"That one," I said
"Okay mom I'll do it."

*She wants to know everyone's favorite colors. If you don't have one she will assign one to you and it will be your favorite. She then will point it out to you any time she sees it anywhere, all day long. Daddy was assigned blue because he couldn't decide. Ollie was assigned red, cause he can't talk so she helped him.

*She's obsessed with my little ponies right now. She was playing with the tail of one and slowly lifts it. She asks, "Mom do ponies have bums?"
I explained they do.
"Mom do ponies poop?"
I explained they do, that every animal, person, and thing that eat does indeed poop.
"EWW," she says.

If she gets an Owie, you will hear about it and have it shown to you multiple times a day. She's dramatic and proud all at the same time.
Some videos that I actually got to load
Her favorite pony show theme song. I wish I had gotten her earlier, she was going at it.
She is the best to try on clothes with, cause everything looks beautiful on her and she lets us know we need to buy them. She is so funny to watch.
