We started our 13 days of Halloween count down. We use the number 13 cause it's a "spooky" number. Well it's not really an official count down, cause we aren't doing any days on the weekends. Each day has a different theme. We eat food, make crafts/food, read books, watch shows, or play games all having to do with that day's theme. This is our second year doing it and my kids were already asking to start it at the end of September. I'd say that makes last year a hit. So this year I used a lot of the same stuff as last year, and then I added new stuff. Day 1 was witch day. I purposely scheduled some days that we have the Wadsworth kids here. If I'm gonna have them twice a week, I might as well keep them entertained. It definitely makes the day and week go quickly. :) Anyway here are a few pics from our day.
Lunch we had witch sandwiches and glowing witch potion for a drink. The older kids loved it, the younger ones still wanted noodles for lunch.
We read some fun books. One about a witch that messes up spells except the one that gives frogs warts. So we did the spell and all ended up with witch's warts all over our faces. :)
My favortie witch book is "Room on the Broom", and they made a movie from it that is SOOO stinking cute. They kids still request it other days.

Making a witch's brew with a fun poem and all the ingredients. I could have done this cooler, but with limited funds I substituted what we had on hand, instead of what ingredients were recommended. It's ok the kids didn't care. They were all about it.
My Witch's ring toss hat game. These are all over pinterest to make yourself, but I'd rather buy one if it's just as cheap. So I did this year. It was a hit that we later played it again for family night so we could show Daddy.

Fun days! I love the ghost stuff. I might have to get my act in gear to do some of the fun things.
I'm going to have to watch for holiday books to add to your variety.
