Sunday School

So far sunday school has gone pretty good. I for the second time, took the older class into my class with me today. I actually really like both classes combined. It gets my kids more involved having the older ones there. I think it's gonna throw me off when I just have my class. I won't be used to it. I'm more worried for the other new guy teaching. He is a convert and I think that'd be an overwhelming calling. I hope the kids are helpful. It's probably a good thing he has the older class. I had to prop my door open today, to save myself from not passing out. It was so stuffy! I hate where the classroom is located, it opens up to a really busy cross hall. I end up shutting it in the beginning, dying, and then once it's cleared out a little, I open it.

Today I was a little nervous to teach. We have one kid who comes with his grandparents and is a very new member. He's a very well put together kid, and is very helpful. (SIDE NOTE: I have another kid who is a new convert who I can't get to open up) Well his Dad comes with him to church occasionally, and HE isn't a member. He in the past has gone to sunday school with his son, cause he wants to know what they are teaching his boy. Okay I get that, let him come a few times, then send him to gospel essentials or something. Nope I guess he'd come almost every time, and recently got in the previous teacher's face to battle religion with her in the middle of her class, in front of all the kids. That part I'm not okay with. One, he wants to start his own religion and argues about a virtual reality that we live in and how nothing is real. Two, that doesn't need to take place in a youth classroom whose testimonies you are trying to help at a very trying stage in life. I would hope I'd be in tune with the spirit to guide me what to say, and it would actually help the kids. I'm pregnant, and hormonal, and I don't need someone yelling in my face. I'd probably end up crying when he wouldn't listen, or start yelling back. We don't need to test it out.

SO ANWAY, when I saw his dad sitting with him during sacrament, I was a little annoyed/nervous. Now since moving here I have discussed our faith with TONS of people, and have loved any missionary opportunity that has come my way. However, I have never battled it out with someone, with an audience. Adam and I took the advice of everyone, and agreed if he did come to my class, so would Adam. So Adam got to hang out for a few minutes today to make sure he didn't have to come babysit his nervous wife. HA. He didn't have to, the Dad didn't come with his son. That made my lesson a little easier. I'm already insecure about teaching anyways! I don't look forward to that situation. I think they asked him to go to the adult class since the previous battle happened, so maybe I'll not have to worry about it. Who knows. Sounds fun right?

Next week I get to teach some Isaiah for the first time AND speak in sacrament. I get to speak on the blessings of service, since I just got released. Seems pretty easy, except I get to preach about accepting callings to a ward that turns them down left and right. Ha! Oh well, bring it on. Wish me luck it'll be an interesting week, especially if I get BILLY (the dad) in my class as well.

I have this fear of people asking me about my religion all the time. It's something I know I would totally screw up. I'm so glad it hasn't happened yet. It's something I've thought a lot about and I figured if it ever happened I'd just use the Articles of Faith. It's our religion in 13 little verses. I think I could handle that.

I think it would be great to have Adam come with you to class and help teach. The kids know him and the man would be less intimidating if another man was there to back you up. I love teaching. I hope you love this class.

I would be afraid of that man too. But, I think that if he does come to your class, and Adam isnt there- and if he gets into the battling mentality- I would very politely say "I would love to discuss your questions with you, but right now is not the best time. I have (x amount) of kids here that I need to be teaching." Then I woudl leave it at that, if he became a problem further, I would invite him to leave, and I woudl direct him to the bishop or some other Priesthood holder.

Good luck with that. I hope that he doesnt decided to make an appearance in the future.

I'm a little jealous though, I think I would really like that teaching calling.

Okay I would be nervous to have an all out battle with anyone. I would feel inadequate! I'm sure you could do awesome though. You've had quite a few questions thrown at you regarding our religion since you guys moved there. You're a pro now. :) At least you can vent your feelings during your talk in sacrament about everyone who turns down a calling. ha.
