Our 4th of July was an awesome day. We had intentions to go the the parade at 8 in the morning, which happened to be a few blocks away from us. We figured we'd hang out with the kids in the morning when they woke up, and go over when it was time. Well everytime we plan on the kids being our alarm, they randomly sleep in. Ollie who is like clockwork up at six every morning, woke up a few minutes to eight. That never happens. He must have known it was a holiday and wanted to let mom sleep in. When we walked over to where the parade was, it was a little packed, and tricky to find a spot to sit. Luckily a girl from our ward asked us to sit with her family. Very nice. Can I tell you it was the lamest parade I've ever seen. Not one float, no marching bands, just cars and trailors advertising and throwing candy. Really that's all it was. There was one high school with cheerleaders, Miss St George and her attendants, and some fire trucks. That's about it. Oh well, Gabe LOVED it. She just stood there waving and clapping the whole time. Poor girl wasn't very aggressive in getting candy, and got it snaked away from her by other kids a lot. Luckily, Lily who is our friend's little girl was awesome at sharing.

This is Lily, she was very nice to Gabe

Covering his ears, he didn't love how load the ambulances were
After the parade, there was a little carnival at the park with rides and booths set up. We let gabe do a bunch of rides. They had two different companies that came and set up rides. One sold blue tickets and the other sold pink. Nobody knew you needed blue or pink tickets to ride certain rides. So some people would buy a bunch of blue tickets, and realize they couldn't ride half the rides. There were a lot of annoyed people. They really didn't think that one through. So we, of course had to buy both kinds, but we enjoyed ourselves.

This ride started out fun, she ended up hating it. It was too bumpy and the guy hauled. It freaked her out.

She wanted a picture with the Queen, is what she called her

Had to give Ollie some crackers at certain times to keep him entertained

No he doesn't take a pacifier, he plays with it and chews it

He finally conked out

When we got home, we did some pops

Greta would charge and then when one popped, she would hide or take off running. Silly creature, she thought it was a fun game

You are so going to have to come home for the 4th next year. The parade is one that everyone loves with all the huge balloons, Queens and Princesses, marching bands and missionaries! We call first dibs!
But it looks like you had fun there too.
How fun! Your fourth was a lot more delightful than ours. Glad you got to see some festivities.
I love Gabe's dress...and of course her hat! Fun day!
Wow, sounds like you guys are enjoying the holidays already ha! They actually just made those big fireworks legal in utah. A bunch of people were doing them around here and I wondered the same thing but Abe told me they did. What a lame parade, but if it entertained the kids I guess that is all that mattered.
Hey I never complain when my kids sleep in. What a nice surprise for you. That is a lame parade. I'm surprised it was so packed with people wanting to watch it. That's funny that Gretta would run away from poppers. At least she doesn't try to eat the fireworks while they're going, like Kida. Gabe looks so cute in her festive dress and headband. you are so good at dressing your kids up cute for the holidays.
Gabe looks so cute in her dress and hat. She'll have lots of parades to watch if michele sticks around with the band. We have lots of fun parades around here.
